CPU Socket Replacement in Store

The 370-pin CPU sockets, used for mounting Intel® Pentium® III and Celeron CPUs on the PCI-6870, PCM-9570, PCM-9574, and PCM-9576 SBCs, are changing.  Previously, these boards used AMP-brand sockets.  Foxconn sockets will be replacing them.  “Actually, the two sockets are virtually identical,” said Oscar Lee, the Product Manager in charge of the affected lines, “but Foxconn sockets are now widely used and more readily available.”  Since no impact is anticipated on customers and users, there will be no revision or model number changes involved.

Availability
This change applies to all off-the-shelf items, and will begin immediately.  For currently ongoing ODM and OEM projects, the change will of course be subject to customer approval.
