Advantech Announces New, Low Power, Fanless, 3.5" SBC with ATA100

Advantech is proud to announce the PCM-9372, its new 3.5" SBC offering. Adopting the embedded low power VIA Eden processor, this board can operate without a fan at temperatures up to 60° C (140° F) and typically consumes under 12 Watts while supporting numerous peripherals. Two EIDE devices and two FDDs are supported, with primary IDE capacity a plentiful ATA100.

The PCM-9372 uses the VIA Twister chipset with Integrated Savage4 2D/3D/Video Accelerator which supports 4X AGP VGA/LCD interface, DVD playback and up to 32 MB frame buffer using system memory. The board supports 3D audio and complies with the AC97 standard. A PCI Ethernet interface, and 2-channel LVDS interface are also included. The PCM-9372 design is based on the 3.5" SBC form factor, and supports the PC/104 interface for ISA module upgrades. Other on-board features include an LPT, 2 USBs, and 2 serial ports: 1 RS-232, and 1 RS-232/422/485. The SSD solution supports CompactFlash™ cards Type I and Type II.

Options
Heatsink options for the "solder side" include a flat plate, or a finned plate with or without fan. (See picture.) Some designers may choose to go with a specially designed chassis that takes the place of a heatsink.

The board is effective for use as an embedded controller, through its ability to add additional custom control cards to its fast PC/104 socket. The PCM-9372's powerful, fanless processor choices and solid system chipset make it a perfect core technology for controllers, medical equipment, kiosks, and other long life applications.
