PCM-5864 phaseout

Due to the phaseout of the SiS5582 system chip, the PCM-5864 SBC series is scheduled to phase out.  The well-loved PCM-5864 series SBCs had a CPU socket, and required separate purchase of a Pentium CPU.  The series is being replaced by the PCM-9575 with VIA CPU onboard, which offers higher performance at a lower price.  Alternatively, for those projects that require a video capture function, or the same display chipset (Asiliant 69000 or 69030) used in the old PCM-5864 series, there is the PCM-9550 series, with Pentium CPU onboard.

In order to ease its customers’ transition to the new models, Advantech purchased a sizeable lot of the SiS5582 chips.  So although the SiS5582s are now already off the market, for a limited time Advantech can still offer the PCM-5864 SBCs.
