The Great Communicator: Advantech Announces New PCI Bus Pentium III Half-sized CPU Card with VGA/LAN/CFC2

With high grade video, high grade audio, USB, COM ports, Ethernet capability, and even infrared, this half-sized CPU card is the Great Communicator. The PCI-6870 is Advantech's newest, high-performance, PCI-based solution. This half-sized CPU card offers all the advantages of the PCI bus standard: notably 32-bit communications at 33 MHz as compared to the ISA bus standard of 8/16-bits at 8 MHz.

High Speed PCI Bus Ideal for Communication Applications

This enhanced performance makes the PCI-6870 especially attractive for communication applications. It provides system integrators with a simple expansion solution. For example, adding another Ethernet port or other high-speed communications card can be done easily on a PCI bus board.

Full Functionality and Flexibility

The PCI-6870 supports both 0.13 micron and 0.18 micron socket 370 FCPGA Pentium III/CeleronTM processors. Using the Intel 815E chipset, it can support a Pentium III/CeleronTM CPU up to 1.26/1.2 GHz respectively. Its DIMM socket supports system memory up to 512 MB. The PCI-6870 uses the VGA controller in the 815E chipset and supports Direct AGP. The VGA memory is UMA shared memory and can be further upgraded to 4 MB with an optional expansion module. There are two serial ports, two USB ports, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface as well as SIR IrDA compliant infrared support. Its full functionality and well-integrated I/O enable the PCI-6870 as a high performance computing solution.

Optional Video Expansion Module

The PCI-6870 is designed with video enhancement in mind. Customers can add video functions such as: DVI output, S-video output, Video out, and more VRAM by adding an optional video expansion module.

Availability

Volume ordering of the PCI-6870 is available now. Please contact your nearest Advantech sales representative or distributor for more product and price details.
