 Advantech
will begin to sell its new IDE interface Flash disk at the end
of May this year. The PCD-1244H will be an effective replacement
of our current PCD-1230A, which has already been phased out. The
PCD-1244H will retain the same form factor and product characteristics
as the PCD-1230A, but offer double the memory capacity. Three
memory sizes of 8 MB, 16 MB and 32 MB will be offered. The increased
memory capacity reflects the never ending effort by Advantech
to pass on gains made through technology advances, directly to
our customers.

Capacity, More Flexibility
 The
PCD-1244H is a good flash memory solution. With a standard IDE
interface, no special drivers are needed and it can be used like
a conventional hard disk. Smaller than a 2.5" IDE Flash disk,
the PCD-1244H can be mounted directly on some Advantech SBCs.
Advantech SBCs that offer direct mounting support for the PCD-1244H
are the PCM-5862E, PCM-3864 and the PCM-3860. The PCD-1244H can
also be applied to other embedded solutions by first being mounted
on a convenient companion module, the PCM-3835. As shown below,
the PCM-3835 demonstartes how effective a dual SSD solution can
be. For example, the Operating System can be stored in the PCD-1244H
Flash disk, while the application data, which can easily be exchanged
or replaced, can be stored in the CompactFlash™ card. This
is a compact, rugged, powerful and flexible embedded application
memory solution.
